Albert "Shorty" Rahn Jr.

Rahn, Albert Jr. "Shorty" Kawkawlin, Michigan Mr. Rahn passed away Thursday morning, August 26, 2010 at Brian's House. Age 81 years. The son of the late Albert and Nellie (Eckinger) Rahn Sr. was born October 8, 1928 in Bay City. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church. Mr. Rahn retired from Pyramid Paving Co. as a truck driver. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of sixty years the former Rose Marie McGee whom he married August 5, 1950. Also surviving are one daughter: Diane Swincicki, two sons and two daughters-in-law: Dennis and Pam Rahn and Dale and Renee Rahn all of Bay City, his grandchildren; Jason (Kristie) Swincicki, Amy Swincicki, Austin Rahn and Jon David Butler, two great granddaughters; Miranda and Kaylee Swincicki, his sisters and brothers; Noreen (Walt) Schuchardt, Howard (Doris) Rahn, Dick (Sue) Rahn, Violet Kroeing and Nancy (Mark) Anderson, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Harold, Herman, Gerald and, Calvin Rahn and one sister; Sophia Hawkins. The family would like to extend a special Thank you to the staff of Huron Woods Nursing Home and Brian's House for the kind and compassionate care our loved one received during his time of need. Funeral and committal services will take place Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Larry Seafert with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Rahn will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
