Ann Marie Volk Bay City, Michigan Ann Marie Volk (Sullivan) passed away on May 22, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born to David and Marion Sullivan in Bay City Michigan on May 3, 1917. Ann worked at Bay City Chevrolet during World War II. She married John Volk, February 3, 1945. John predeceased her. Ann was a gentle, loving mother to her 5 children. She is survived by her children. Marilee (Larry) Greene, Beth (James) McParlan, Joseph (Barb) Volk, Richard Volk and Shawn (Cindy) Volk; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Kevin, Drew, and Alex Volk, Shannon and Shawn (Ann) LaMere, Trevor Greene, Jeremy (Kristi) McParlan, Erin (Norm) Halstead, Jon McParlan. Ann had 5 Great-Grandchildren, Camron, Hudson, Olivia, Peyton and Owen who always made her smile when they visited, one sister, Patricia Carson, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Michael and Patsy Sullivan and Murray Sullivan. She loved to paint, do flower arrangements and shop for her children and grandchildren. She also volunteered in many ways over the years. In these later years, Ann's grandson, Nathan Volk, became her primary caregiver and live in advocate. On behalf of the family, Nate made sure that all of her daily needs were met and that she was well cared for. The family would like to thank Nate for his unselfish contributions to making Ann's life as comfortable as possible. There is no way we could ever express our gratitude enough. A special thank you to Cyndi Walker, Jenni Campbell and Cheri Boswell for the loving care they gave mom as her mobility decreased and she needed more help. They made mother feel loved and cared for. Heartland Hospice held our hands and guided the family through our journey. Thanks you Sarah and Deb. There is no Doctor more special than our Dr. Ann Connaghan. Her loving care gave us more precious time with our mom. The Memorial Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. George J. Serour & Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDdeN will officiate over the funeral rites. A private Rite of Committal with inurnment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. where a Time of Reflection & Sharing will take place at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice Foundation or Bay County Right to Life.
