Mrs. Gillam passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 90 years. The daughter of the late Alfred and Jenny Vern (Bailey) Craven was born March 6, 1922 in Mesick, MI. She was a member of First Baptist Church and also attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. Mrs. Gillam taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, children's bible school at her home, served as a camp counselor at Lake Ann and was a junior high superintendent. She worked as a teacher's aide, president of the P.T.A at Linsday School and served as a state representative for Bay City for the P.T.A. She enjoyed traveling to the Holy Lands, spending time with family and friends sharing the food she enjoyed making, playing the organ, knitting, reading the bible, praying for people in their time of need and volunteered at the hospital. She is survived by her husband of seventy years James W. Gillam whom she married October 11, 1941. Also surviving are her children and their spouses; William and Carol Gillam, Greg and Linda Gillam and Jill and Ed Barlow, her grandchildren; William, Sarah and Luke Gillam, Michael Gillam, Hilary Woodworth, Kristy Ann Brown, Justin Gillam, Melissa Ragatz and Lori Durance, sixteen great grandchildren, one sister; Meroa Curtis. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church (3687 N. Euclid Ave. Bay City, MI 48706). Officiating will be Pastor Roger Lyman with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. (201 W. Midland St., Bay City, MI 48706) on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Gillam will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 4:00 p.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for First Baptist Church or Cornerstone Baptist Church will be available at the funeral home or at the church. www.gephartfuneralhome.com
