Carl passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Bickford Assisted Living at the age of 80 years. He was born on December 26, 1939 in Midland to the late Paul and Florence (Janson) Hafer. He married the former Sandra Langel on August 4, 1973 in Escanaba, Michigan. Carl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and worked as a farmer for many years. He was also a volunteer fire fighter and auctioneer. In his spare time he enjoyed helping kids in the 4-H club, hunting, fishing and being a joker teasing the grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, Mark Hafer, Jon (Candace) Hafer, Megean (Brandon) Zeilinger and Jason (Debbie) Hafer; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Dale and Keith (Sue) Hafer; sister-in-law, Betty Hafer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Hafer; brother, Lyle Hafer and sister-in-law, Janice Hafer.
Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis W. Matyas with interment in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to the wishes of the family.
