Charles Alger Rollin, of Hale formerly of Saginaw, known by his family and friends as "Chuck" died on Friday, July 1 just after midnight at Brian's House in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 56. Chuck managed early stages of vascular dementia resulting from several strokes in 2006 but in March of this year was diagnosed with metastatic esophageal cancer. Prior to his death, he had returned to his home on Little Long Lake from the hospital to enjoy his final days with family and friends. Chuck was born in West Branch on June 15, 1955 to Betty and Kenneth Rollin. As an infant, he came home to his beloved Hale, Michigan where he grew up. When Chuck was just seven years old his family moved from the town of Hale to Long Lake where he spent the remainder of his childhood with friends and siblings enjoying all seasonal outdoor activities. Chuck graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti and began his career with Consumers Power in Jackson, Michigan. He was also involved in Junior League and mentoring young people. After two years he accepted an offer with EDS as a systems analyst engineer, where he stayed for 23 years. During that time he moved to Saginaw, MI and helped design and supervise the inventory systems for GM and as a single Dad raised his two children. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Betty (nee Philpot) and Kenneth Rollin and his sister Judith Ann. It was with great sadness that he left his two children Jessica Rollin age 23, and Nicholas Rollin age 21. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses Jim and Pat (nee Tatroe) Rollin, Nancy Rollins and Michael Allan, and Merry Rollin DeLong. He had many beloved nieces, nephews, two great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Chuck took great pleasure from bringing friends and family together. His favorite place was his childhood home on Long Lake and a memorial service in his honor will be held there Saturday, July 16 at 10:00 AM. Donations in his memory may be made to hospice at Brian's House in Bay City, Michigan.
