Dorothea "Doty" Elaine Smith

Dorothea Elaine Smith "Doty" Bay City, Michigan Our loving mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord on Monday evening May 18, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 80 years. She was born February 19, 1935 in Bay City and has resided her all of her life. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Town Hall Group in Bay City. She was a graduate of T.L. Handy High School and continued on with her education at Bay City Junior College and Central Michigan University. Doty enjoyed golf and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Left behind to cherish her memories are one daughter and son-in-law; Pam and Scott Wojcik of Bay City, one son and daughter-in-law; David and Maureen Smith of Canton, Michigan, four grandchildren; Natasha Wojcik, Allison , Grace and Claire Smith, one sister and brother-in-law; Joyce and John Karsko, one niece; Lizann and Greg Brand, one cousin; Patricia Chauarria four sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law; Marjorie Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Sandra Smith and Tom and Jeannine Smith and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Loren D. Smith and one brother; Robert "Bob" Kasner. Funeral Services will take place Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schaewe with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Smith will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or the "Wishes of the Family" will be available.
