Earl Joseph Fortin passed away August 21, 2011 in Durango, CO, at the age of 75. The son of the late Willard and Elsie Fortin was born November 12, 1935 in Bay City, MI. Earl graduated from high school at Visitation Catholic in Michigan and received a degree from St. Joseph College in Indiana. His professional life included work in the fields of carpentry, banking, real estate, financial planning and sales. He served as Vice President of Centennial Savings Bank, and volunteered with the Lions Club, Durango Business Association and his parishes. He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church in MI, St. Columba and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches in Durango, CO. On February 21, 1959 Earl married Roberta (Bobbie) Snider in Ft. Wayne, IN and she preceded him in death in 2007. He is survived by their seven children: Leslie Fortin of Tampa, FL, Colette & Gary Nordyke of Lake Orion, MI, Daniel & Janice Fortin of Durango, CO, William & Heather Fortin of Wales, Great Britain, Andre Fortin of Durango, CO, Monique & Hank Baca of Anchorage, AK and Nicole Fortin of Honolulu, HI; six grandchildren: Brenton, Destin, Maria, Jean Luc, Piers and Paulo; his sister Marilynn (Felton) Sparks, David (Kim) Fortin, Chris Fortin, sister-in-law Catherine Rowena Fortin and Silvio Ciccone. Besides Earl's parents, Earl was also preceded in death by his brothers Dale, Michael, Gary and sister Madonna Ciccone. Earl also had 29 loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Churcu. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Stephen J. Fillion with the Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
