Emil O. Weiss

Weiss, Emil O. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Weiss passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 91 years. The son of the late John and Ida (Krause) Weiss was born July 6, 1921 in Bay County, Michigan. Mr. Weiss was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and retired from the Dow Chemical Company as a painter on April 30, 1982. Mr. Weiss loved to hunt, fish, garden and enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Houghton Lake. Mr. Weiss is survived by his wife the former Hulda E. Quintel whom he married August 26, 1950; one son, Alan E. Weiss and his fiancée Brenda Kucher of Saginaw; one daughter, Nancy Mae Weiss of Bay City; two grandsons, Benjamin (Robyn) Weiss of Frankenmuth and Paul (Nicole) Weiss of Longmont, CO; two great granddaughters, Celia Ruth Weiss and Stella Mae Weiss both of Longmont, CO; two great grandsons, Eli Benjamin Weiss and Carter Edward Weiss both of Frankenmuth; two sisters-in-law, Lenora Weiss of Freeland and Ruth Weiss of Bay City. In addition to his parents Mr. Weiss was also preceded in death by five brothers, Martin, Theodore, Oscar, Alfred and Roy; six sisters, Lydia, Emma, Bertha, Meta, Helen and Sally. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Carriage House for their compassion and care that they gave to Mr. Weiss. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes and Rev. George W. Morris with private interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Weiss will be taken to the church to lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for Faith Lutheran Church and the Parkinson's Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
