Vogel, Ella D. Vogel, Eugene W. Bay City, Michigan Mr. and Mrs. Vogel went home to be with their Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Carriage House of Bay City. The daughter of the late Martha (Brandt) and George Dietlein was born May 11, 1927 in Beaver Township, Bay County, Michigan. Age 86 years. The son of the late Louise (Feinauer) and Otto Vogel was born April 29, 1927 in Bay City Age 86 years. They both resided in this area all of their lives and were active members of Faith Lutheran Church. They were united in marriage on June 12, 1948 in Beaver Zion Lutheran Church and raised three daughters and they survive their passing. Surviving are three daughters and three sons-in-law; Karen and Gary Kluka of Essexville, Kaye and Kurt Hofmeister of Bay City and Kristine and Steve Ortale of Bloomfield Hills, nine grandchildren; Shelly (Steve) Chenoweth, Rick Kluka, Matt Heckerthorn, Josh (Chrystal) Heckerthorn, Kerry Hofmeister, Kendra Hofmeister, Carter Ortale, Griffin Ortale and Kendall Ortale, four great grandchildren and the family is expecting the fifth, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides their parents they were preceded in death by brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Walter and Helen Dietlein, Oscar and Leona Landosky, Erna and Martin Kohn, Clara and Chester Wirsing and James Vogel. Ella and Gene were active members of Faith Lutheran Church, Ella served on the Altar Guild and the Church Choir and Gene was a Usher and Elder. They both enjoyed a good game of golf, traveling and competing in the Senior Olympics. Most of all they enjoyed attending their children and grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with their family. Ella retired from Hine Knopp Vernon Insurance Company and Gene retired from General Motors Co. Traffic Department. Gene served with the United States Army, was an active Volunteer with the Michigan Blood Bank where he was a long time donor and enjoyed collecting many items over the years. Funeral and Committal Services for Mr. and Mrs. Vogel will take place Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes and Rev. George W. Morris with private interment in Elm Lawn Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Vogel will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for Faith Lutheran Church will be available.
