George A. Whittaker III "Trip"

George passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 65 years. George was born in Bay City on December 3, 1953 to the late George II and Nancy (Woods) Whittaker. On September 20, 1975 he married the former Sherry L. Ayers in Bay City and were married for 44 years. George worked for Thompson Ball and Screw/Meggitt for over 20 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, snowmobiling and was an avid sports fan, especially U of M. He also enjoyed playing softball, basketball and bowling.
George is survived by his wife, Sherry; sons, George IV (Aimee) and Wesley (Taylor); grandchildren, George V, Abigail, Emaline, Cecelia and Nash; brother, Christopher Whittaker; sisters, Denise (Ted) Tuma and Ashley Whittaker; many nieces and nephews; special brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Betsy Ayers and special friends, Phil and Theresa Boyk and their children Bradley and Ethan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Allen Whittaker.
Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Deacon Ken David with cremation to take place following the service. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
