Redmond, Gerald M. "Mick" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Redmond passed away early Tuesday morning September 10, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness with his loving wife at his side. Age 78 years. The son of the late Myles J. (Former City Treasurer) and Doris Redmond was born October 15, 1934 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Mick was a former firefighter on the Bay City Fire Department, he retired from the Bay City Housing Commission where he served as executive director from 1972- 1990. He was elected to the Bay County Road Commission in 1993 and he served as Chairman since 1997 until the time of his retirement. He served on the Bay County Board of Commissioners from 1968 to 1974, six years with the Bay Arenac Mental Health Board, three years on the Bangor Township Zoning Board and served in the United States Army Security Agency from 1953 to 1956. Mr. Redmond was an active member of our community over the years, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus #414, Polish Legion of American Veterans , Bay City Muskrat Club, American Public Works Association and the former County Road Association of Michigan. He is survived by his wife the former Nancy Kurzer, three daughters ; Michelle (James) Caspers, Melissa Seymour and Molly (Brad) Richard and one stepson; Todd (Tamara) Eckerd all of Bay City, his grandchildren; Jeffrey and Eric Seymour, Matt and Erin Caspers, Josie and Jake Richard and Halee Eckerd, one great grandson; Carter Seymour and many special friends. Mick was preceded in death by two sons; Matthew and Michael Redmond, one granddaughter; Kristen Redmond and one step son; Jeffrey Eckerd. Members of the Knights of Columbus # 414 will conduct a Bible Presentation on Friday September 13, 2013 at 5:45 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. Officiating will be Sr. Mary Epple, RSM followed by Military Honors that will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. A Private Family Committal Service will take place in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery at a later time. At the request of Mr. Redmond cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. and until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for the "Wishes of the Family" will be available.
