Mrs. Gloria J. Hemingway, of Saginaw, passed away Thursday evening, December 22, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Saginaw, age 85. The daughter of the late Wilbert A. and Erna O. (Mathis) Majeske, she was born on August 3, 1931 in Bay County. After high school and college, Gloria was a teacher for a few years and then went on to work at the U.S. Census Bureau for over 30 years. She also owned a storage unit company. Gloria was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Carrollton where she had worked part time as a secretary in the past. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word search. Most of all Gloria loved being with her children and grandchildren.
On December 10, 1955 Gloria married James E. Hemingway and he passed away on April 17, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Denise Kasper of Bay City and Lynn (Jeff) Dankert of Carrollton; her seven grandchildren, Paige Kasper, Dallas Kasper, Tyler (Bree) Dankert, Jaycee Dankert, James Hemingway, Jr., Tricia Hemingway and Jacob Hemingway. Gloria was also preceded in death by her son, James M. Hemingway, Sr. on August 10, 2013.
Private family services have taken place and with interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Freeland. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.
