Mrs. Harriet J. Laetz, of Bay City, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 23, 2015 at Nottingham Place Assisted Living in Midland, age 88 years. The daughter of the late Carl and Gladys (Buckel) Seidel, she was born on November 8, 1927 in Bay City. On December 30, 1950 Harriet married Gerald F. Laetz and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2004. She and her husband Gerald established and owned Salzburg Pharmacy where she worked as bookkeeper, and together they were a longtime part of the Salzburg business community. Harriet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She had a passion to serve and was always very supportive of her family, friends, church and community, especially with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Laetz is survived by her three children and their spouses, Jean (Gerry) Christensen of Saline, Debra (Steven) VanTol of Auburn and Thomas (Jolene) Laetz of Midland; her grandchildren, Mark (Angela) Christensen, Stacy Christensen, Jeremy (Rebecca) VanTol, Sarah VanTol, Kristen Laetz and Brandon (Britni) Laetz; three great-grandchildren, Emma VanTol, Claire VanTol and Hannah VanTol; her brother, Don (Jacqueline) Seidel of Bay City; her sister-in-law, Rita Laetz of Bay City; and her nieces and nephews. Harriet was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ken Laetz.
The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. David Reed. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Laetz will lie instate at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
