Harriet C. Leinberger

Mrs. Harriet C. Leinberger, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hoyt Nursing Home in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late Edwin and Clara (Meyer) Foerster was born on May 2, 1922 in Bay County, Michigan and has resided here all of her life. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, its Ladies Guild, LWML and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Harriet and her late husband Harold were active as foster parents for the Lutheran Child and Friend Society and fostered more than thirty children over the years. She enjoyed quilting, making them for World Relief, volunteering at the Economy Center and most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Left behind to cherish her memories are five children and their spouses; Thomas (Deana) Leinberger of Freeland, MI, Bonnie (Richard) Frank of Auburn, MI, Betty (Roger) Brown of Sandusky, MI, Carolyn (Jack) Fish of Janesville, WI and Dale (Jan) Leinberger of AuGres, MI, twelve grandchildren; Brad Leinberger, Zach Leinberger, Christine Smith, Donald Frank, David Brown, Matthew Brown, Becky Zuardo, Jon Fish, Sarah Duffy, Abbe Adair, Maggie Burrow and Chelsea Wunderlich, thirty one great grandchildren, one sister; Bernice Mehl, two brothers and three sisters-in-law; Ivan and Irene Foerster, Kenneth and Carolyn Foerster and Hilda Bennett and many nieces and nephews. On October 26, 1941 she married Harold F. Leinberger and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2011. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Arlene Bennett and Luella Savage and one brother; Nelson Foerster.
Funeral and Committal services will take place Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church 510 W. Ivy St. Bay City, MI with a funeral luncheon following. Officiating will be Rev. Kurt M. Eichinger with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City, Michigan. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. 201 W. Midland St. Bay City, MI on Sunday to receive visitors from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Leinberger will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
