Howard C. Dobbins

Dobbins, Howard C. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Dobbins passed away on Monday, October 03, 2016 at Huron Woods Nursing Center. Age 87 years. The son of the late Gilbert and Henretta (Benson) Dobbins was born October 13, 1928 in Marinette, Wisconsin. Mr. Dobbins was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, retired from U.S. Steel Great Lakes Fleet where he was a captain pilot for the Western Great Lakes Pilot Association; he also served in the U.S. Army for four years and in the U.S. Navy for four years. Mr. Dobbins is survived by his wife of 61 years, Delores J. Dobbins; two sons, Jeffrey Dobbins of Ft. Myers, FL and Brian (Carrie) Dobbins of Bay City; one grandson, Brett Dobbins of Bay City; one brother, John (Gloria) Dobbin of Marinette, WI; one sister, Lois McLeod of Marinette, WI; one sister-in-law, Jane Williams; one favorite niece, Linda (Paul) Reinsch and their children Ben and Katie; one nephew, Richard Williams and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Gordon Williams. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Huron Woods Nursing Center for their compassion and care. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich with Committal following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council and the U.S. Navy. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
