James Blair Swanson

James passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 85 years. He was born August 11, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Andrew and Grace (Earls) Swanson. He Retired from GM formerly (Saginaw Steering Gear) after 30 years. James was an active member at trinity episcopal church where he was an usher and a member of the vestry. He enjoyed golfing especially when he got his hole in one, watching sports, watching the Tigers play, taking care of his yard, telling jokes, stories and most of all going on walks with his wife June on the beaches in Florida.

James is survived by his wife June (Miller) Swanson who was always by his side. They were high school sweethearts and were married on November 24, 1956 (63 Years). He also leaves behind four children, Sue (Dave) Pike, Sherry (Jim) Colaianni, Blair (Ruth) Swanson and Steve (Jodi) Swanson; ten grandchildren, Andrew Pike and his significant other Rebekah McCreery, Brandon (Hillarie) Pike, Ashley (Brett) Fritz, Jimmy Colaianni, Kelly Colaianni, Allison Colaianni, Ryan Swanson, Nick Swanson, Adam Swanson, and Jason (Courtney) Sauve; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Madison and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by his sister, Sally; brothers, Bob and Bill; father and mother-in-law, Pete and Lill Miller.

Private Funeral Services will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church on Friday, September 11, 2020. Officiating will be The Reverend Sue Rich. Private Interment will take place in Elm Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to the Wishes of The Family.
