James passed away Monday afternoon April 23, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region with his family by his side at the age of 77 years. James was born on May 5, 1940 in Bay City to the late Edward and Bernice (Nadobny) Zielinski. James graduated from St. Stanislaus High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He married the former Thelma K. VanDenBosch in Bay City on June 15, 1963. James worked for General Motors for 25 years and retired in 1986. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and playing cards. Most of all he loved being surrounded by his family and his extended family and treated everyone he met like his own.
James is survived by his wife, Thelma; children, James A. Zielinski Jr. (Fabienne Zielinski), Michelle Pixley (Andrew Pixley), Christopher Zielinski (Tracy Zielinski) and Mary Jo Cameron (Gordon Cameron); grandchildren, Andrea (Joseph) Frost, Kersten (Justin) Hayes, Melinda (Josh) Sandberg, Zachary Pixley, Megan Zielinski (Justin Walters), Trevor Zielinski, Ellie, McKenna, Olivia and Gordon Jr. Cameron; great grandchildren, William, Harper, Evelyn and Apollo; brother, Eugene Zielinski; sister, Mary Ann (Clarence) Pitt and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal service will take place on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Richard M. Filary. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
