Mr. John Kolacz, age 89, of Bay City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Meadow View Memory Care in Saginaw following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. John was born on April 20, 1927 in Detroit to the late Casper and Pauline (Litwin) Kolacz. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. On October 1, 1955 John married the former Marjorie Beiser and she predeceased him on August 21, 1999.
John is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Richard) Herzberger of Bay City, Kathy (Thomas) Wenzel of Beaverton, Joan (James) Schwab of Kawkawlin and Dorothy (Kevin) Kaufmann of Zilwaukee; two sisters, Sophia Beech of Melbourne, FL and Jennie Pasternak of Saginaw; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his extra special lady friend, Irene Ruff; and several nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
John was employed at Consumers Energy Company for more than 30 years and was a longtime active member of Trinity Monitor Lutheran Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing.
John was predeceased by his parents, his wife, four brothers, Edward, Walter, Joseph and William, and three sisters-in-law.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Trinity Monitor Lutheran Church, Salzburg and Eight Mile Roads in Bay City. Military Honors, conducted by the U.S. Army will follow the service. Private interment will be in Fremont Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Kolacz will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
