Karen passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, November 9, 2022 at the Colonnades Assisted Living Center in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 74. She was born on February 28, 1948 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Melvin and Pearl (Kummert) Dennis. She was a very active member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and helped out with the school as well. Karen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She liked attending concerts and loved listening to music. She also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and teaching her grandkids how to swim. She was such a genuine, caring and giving person. On January 18 1969, she married her husband, Dennis Martens at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and they spent over 41 years together before his passing in 2010.
Karen is survived by her children, Marc (Stephanie) Martens of Linwood, Kevin (Loretta) Martens of Freeland and Craig Martens of Linwood; six cherished grandchildren, Ryanna, Talan, Corey, Grayson, Laina and Nathan; sisters, Sandra Kukla and Jan (John) Wardynski and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Tom Kukla and sister-in-law, Sandra (Kenneth) Ebel.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Pastor Joel Pankow at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, the staff at Colonnades Assisted Living Center and family and friends that were very supportive and helped out during this difficult time.
Funeral Service will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Joel Pankow. The family will be present to receive visitors at the Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and School.
