Kay Marie (Ross) Brissette passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Red Oaks AFC home with her family at her side. The daughter of the late John and Leona (Schmitz) Ross was born February 27, 1940 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. Age 74 years. Kay was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish- St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Ladies of the Moose, she retired from First of America Bank Loan Dept., enjoyed painting ceramics and porcelain and most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Left behind to cherish her memories are three children and their spouses; Mark and Sandy Gwizdala, Mike and Julie Gwizdala and Lisa and Greg Luczak, five grandchildren; Heather and Nick Barton, Jeremy Gwizdala, Lukas Gwizdala, Emily Gwizdala and Justin Rios, one great granddaughter; Ava Barton, one sister and brother-in-law; Sharon and Gary Harris, sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Mary Lou and Paul Drzewiecki , two step children; Rick Brissette and Michelle and Bruce Miller, one daughter-in-law; Jami Brissette, step grandchildren; Brandy Miller, Shanya Griffus, Stefan Brissette, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; Sharon and Dale Rouleau and Karen Brissette, many nieces, nephews, special cousin; Bob Fogelsonger and her special friends; Myrtle and Jerry Dew, Cathy Kulas and Keith and Judy Harris. On June 27, 1970 she married Ronald M. Brissette and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2009. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by the father of her children; Albin "Al" Gwizdala, one step son; Gregory Brissette, one step granddaughter; Katie Thomas, one brother-in-law; Pete Brissette and one nephew; Kirk Harris. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Red Oaks AFC Home for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Kay and her family during the time they cared for her. The Funeral Liturgy will take place Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary of the Assumption Church 607 E. South Union Bay City, Michigan . Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Geroge J. Serour with the Rite of Committal following at St. Patrick's Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Friday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kay will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to "The Wishes of the Family" for a memorial in memory of Kay to be established at a later time.
