LaVern E. Jeske Sr.

Mr. Jeske passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Bay Shores Nursing Home. Age 82 years. The son of the late Valentine and Thelma (LeBourdais) Jeske was born June 23, 1934 in Bay City. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Jeske was a member of the Knights of Columbus #414. He retired from Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. as a funeral directors assistant after many years of faithful service. Mr. Jeske enjoyed playing cards, traveling, fishing and gardening. Left to cherish his memories is his children, LaVern "Vern" and Becky Jeske Jr., Jeff and Debbie Jeske, Kathy and Phil Bussinger and Debbie Grin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lauretha Boyd Jeske on December 17, 2015, his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Eugene Menegay; one son-in-law, Randy Grin. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish-Holy Trinity Church 1000 S. Wenona St., Bay City, MI 48706. Officiatingwill be Rev. Fr. Emmett Marceau with private interment in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday evening at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus #414 Bible Presentation. Mr. Jeske will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
