Marilyn Ruth Schlicker

Marilyn Ruth Schlicker was called home by our Lord on October 25, 2012 at the age of 84, after a lingering illness. Born to Michael and Esther (Reinke) Arndt on July 21, 1928 and baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese on August 26 of that year, Marilyn lived in the Saginaw Valley all her life. She married Walter L. Schlicker July 9, 1949 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Essexville, and they were married 58 years when he predeceased her. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Monitor. Marilyn spent most of her married life as a homemaker, involved in church life through teaching Sunday School, participating in the sewing club and the Friendship Guild, and being a founding member of the bell choir. She also loved home canning, gardening, sewing and caring for her children. Those children are Dennis, James (Susan), Nancy Luptowski, Greg (Sarah), and Julie (Tom) Kernstock. She is also survived by grandchildren Daniel (Chelsea), Chad Luptowski, Steven, Michael Kernstock, Deanna Luptowski, Natalie Luptowski, Nicole (Eric) Marter, Nicholas, Eric, and Margaret, by her sisters Norma (Bill) Brown, Carol (James) Kane, and Beverly (Kenneth) Preston, and by sisters-in-law Lorine Knoerr and Eleanor Schlicker. She was predeceased her parents, husband, step father Walter Zuellig and grandchild Nathan. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monitor. Officiating will be Rev. David F. Sherry with interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday to greet family and friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Marilyn will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
