Mark S. Swank, of Commerce Twp., Michigan, formerly of Bay City, passed away August 21, 2014 at the age 59. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on February 8, 1955 to Jack and Patricia (Roozenburg) Swank. He worked as a software engineer in the automotive and tech industries in Southwest Michigan. He enjoyed mountain biking, photography, coin collecting, woodworking and being with Myteka his cat. He was a devout Christian whose beliefs helped sustain him throughout his long illness. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Swank of Bay City; his twin brother and two sisters, Michael (Diane) Swank of Bay City, Cheryl (Gus) Abou-Samra of Bay City, & Jacqueline K. Cleaver of Chagrin Falls OH; nephews and nieces, Allen Elkins, Justin McLaughlin, Warren Cleaver, Chelsea Swank, Nicole Abou-Samra, & Christopher Abou-Samra. Also surviving are his aunts, Sharon Gilbert and Elaine (Dave) Schweinsberg all of Bay City and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father Jack Swank. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at South Baptist Church, 800 Cass Ave., Bay City MI. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5 PM-8 PM at Gephart Funeral Home, Bay City MI. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
