Marvin Lee Powell, of Reese, MI, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening June 9, 2015 in Vassar, Michigan. Age 34 years. He was born October 13, 1980 in Flint, Michigan. Marvin attended Riverwalk Baptist Church in Bay City, graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School in Mt. Morris and Mott Community College. He was currently employed as a corrections officer with the State of Michigan Department of Corrections St. Louis (SLE) and was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife Natalie Renee Powell, six children; Alexis, Sydney, Lilyan, Victoria, Brenner and Heidi, his parents; Keith and Rachelle (Mattison) Powell of Mt. Morris, three sisters and one brother-in-law; Nichole Bowman, Stacy Powell and Joy and Robert Schafer, five brothers; Paul, Jeff, Patrick and Tom Powell and Randal Stone, his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Martin and Julie Getyina, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; Nicole and David LeVasseur and Bethany Getyina and fiancé Nic Mayer, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his grandparents; Ivan and Lenora Powell and Eugene and Ruby Mattison.
Funeral Services will take place Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Roe under the auspices of the Department of Corrections Honor Guard with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home to receive visitors on Thursday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service.
