Myrna Butterfield Spliedt, age 96, passed away peacefully in Ada, Michigan on March 21, 2023. Born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Nora (Burmeister) Butterfield. She moved to Bay City in 1956 and was employed by the Bay City Housing Commission for 18 years retiring in 1991. She was an active member of Corpus Christi Parish (Holy Trinity) and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a former president of the Holy Trinity Altar Society and also volunteered in many different ministries. She volunteered in the Bay City Public Schools and Holy Trinity School and she especially loved teaching Art Goes To School. Myrna was a proud member of the Handy Pride Association and volunteered countless hours improving the school’s grounds. She was involved in the Bay City Lioness Club, March of Dimes, Cancer Walks, and the Bay City Community Foundation. She loved gardening and flowers. She could talk about gardening for hours and she worked in her flowerbeds until she was 95 years old.
She leaves behind her children, Mary A. Spliedt, James (Vicky) Spliedt, Sharon (John) Anderson and Colleen (Michael) Terwilliger; Grandchildren, Alex Colopy, Savannah Spliedt, James Anderson, Eric Terwilliger, Emily Terwilliger and great-grandson Anthony Lagalo; siblings, Don (Lawain) Butterfield, Norene Ackerman, Caren (Herb) Kile and sister-in-law, Alice Butterfield and several nieces, nephews and many special friends. In addition to her parents Myrna was proceeded in death by her daughter, Carol Spliedt; granddaughter, Nicole Spliedt; sisters, Catherine Butterfield, Maxine Butterfield and Thelma Wolfe; brothers, Jack Butterfield, William Butterfield; sister-in-law, Lois Butterfield and brothers-in-law Daniel Wolfe and Bert Ackerman.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Corpus Christi Parish with private interment following in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home. Myrna will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Donations in her memory can be made to Faith Hospice. In lieu of flowers please consider planting something beautiful in memory of Myrna.
