February 17, 1933 — September 17, 2018

Norman E. Ott

Norm died at the age of 85 years, holding his daughter's hand early on Monday morning, September 17, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region.  Norm was born February 17, 1933 in Bay City, MI, and was baptized at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church in Kawkawlin, MI.  He was the second and only son of Herbert and Marguerite (DeShano) Ott, to survive scarlet fever in childhood.  Norm was an active member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, very active with the funeral lunch committee, and a trustee of the Lutheran Fellowship Association (LFA). In his early years he worked at Defoe Shipbuilding and then went on to become an industrial electrician retiring from Newcor, and started his own electrical contracting business in the 1980's as a second job to put his daughter though school. He was a very positive person who could repair or fix anything. Norman had a passion and respect for the farming profession, enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and collecting cookbooks.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his daughter and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Louise R. Ott and Elaine Winter; his family thru faith and friendship, Ron Schwartz, Lorie and Clark Rux, Larry and Becky Schwartz, Joe Schwartz, Hannah Rux, Chris Schwartz, and Gail McFarland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna M. Ott and his brother Clarence Ott.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul E. Schaewe with interment following in Elm Lawn Cemetery. The family will be present at the church on Friday to receive family and friends from 11:30 until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or the Hannah Rux Scholarship Fund.
