Paul passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 85 years. Paul was born May 8, 1934 to the late John and Elsie (Begick) Trerice. Paul held a Master's Degree in Social Work was a wonderful therapist and dedicated his life to helping others. Paul was a life time Mason. Paul served his country as a Psychiatric Technician in the U.S. Army. In Paul's spare time he enjoyed calligraphy, doing crossword puzzles, sailing, riding his motorcycle, riding his bicycle down the trails, and woodworking, he was an avid reader, studying different religions and a spiritual seeker.
Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Trerice; two sons, Tom (Anne) Barnes) and John Barnes and his special friend Lisa Purchase; four grandchildren, Christopher Barnes and Megan Barnes, Daniel Barnes and Julia Barnes; sister, Jean Chapman; brother-in-law, Keith; nephew, Dan (Alice) Chapman and great niece, Annie (Rick) Brewer; niece, Laura (Kerry) Reynolds and great Nephews Justin and Austin Isble; special sister-in-law, Mary Roberts and many dear friends. In addition to his parents Paul is preceded in death by his son, John Henry and four brothers-in-law.
Paul had many dear friendships in his life; this quote was one of his favorite quotes. "I want to build a house by the side of the road and be a friend to my fellow man." -Sam Walter Foss. This was the philosophy Paul lived his life by and many learned from his wisdom.
Per Paul's wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. noon. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the end of the Celebration of Life. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to McLaren Hospice.
