Mrs. Rachel A. Hetherington, of Bay City, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at McLaren Bay Region, age 83. The daughter of the late Wilfred and Rachel (Dion) Desilet, she was born on September 2, 1932 in Bay City and has resided here since. Rachel was a graduate of Bay City Central High School Class of 1950. She was a member of Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene. Rachel was very artistic and creative. She enjoyed working with all crafts, but especially loved making and teaching ceramic art.
On August 12, 1967 Rachel married Raymond F. Hetherington and he survives her passing along with her three children, Linda LeTourneau and her husband Eric Peterson of Ashville, NC, David (Connie) LeTourneau of Knoxville, TN and Laura Shrum of Bay City; five grandchildren, Nathan, Falen, Nicholas, Stefani and Catlyn; her sister-in-law, Pearl Desilet of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rachel was also preceded in death by her first husband, Martin LeTourneau in 1964; and her brother, Wilfred E. "Bill" Desilet.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Owens with interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
