Mr. Steinhoff passed away at his residence on Monday, July 8, 2019 with his loving family by his side, at the age of 77. He was born to the late Wayne and Virginia (Hall) Steinhoff on May 13, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Steinhoff retired from the Bay City Public Schools as a bus driver, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, watching golf on TV, playing cards, especially poker and enjoyed his family and his nieces and nephews. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Left to cherish his memories are two sisters, Sandy (Don) Hughes and Sally (Dan) Sylvester; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon Steinhoff, Ellen Steinhoff, Ervin Kuch, Kip Fuller, Rich (Lois) Niemann, Janet Wackerle, Ed Simstad, Don Sautter and Mike Rivard; his special neighbor, Frank Davis.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Joanne(Niemann) Steinhoff whom he married on October 26, 1968; his step-father, Frank Shimunec; his brothers and sisters, LaDoris Fuller, DeWayne Steinhoff, Carol (Lyle) Sylvester, Virginia (Lester) Behmlander, Judy Kuch and John Steinhoff; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Claude and Thelma Niemann; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom (Shari) Niemann, Kay Simstad, Gary Wackerle, Mary Sautter, and Lynn Rivard; his nephew, Brent Veitengruber. The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to "Big Dicks" Hospice Team from Grace Hospice. He loved each and every one of them.
Funeral Services will take place Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Lee Austin. Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council will take place at 3:30 p.m.The family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday to receive family and friends from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
