Robert "Bob" I. Seward

Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Mid-Michigan Medical Center on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Age 90 years. The son of the late Merton and Stella (Samson) Seward was born April 19, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Seward was retired from the Bay City Fire Department and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his retirement he enjoyed competing as a triathlete and flying his ultralight. Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Cindy Capra) Seward, Jeff (MJ) Seward and Julie Hartley; grandchildren, Shane and Erin Capra, Tiffany (Jason) Wardynski, Jared and Jenna Seward, Brent Hartley and fiancee Vanessa Rezmer and Derek Hartley; great grandson, Jackson Hartley; brother, Pete Seward; sister, Maryann (Bob) Niedzielski; sister-in-law, Carol (Chuck) Kearly and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Seward; son-in-law, Glen Hartley; brothers, Mert and Jim Seward; sisters-in-law, Faith and Marion Seward and Pat Gilles; brother-in-law, Bob Gilles; nephew, Mark Kearly and nieces, Kathy and Debbie Seward. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary's Church followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the U.S. Navy. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak with private interment in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday to receive family and friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Seward will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Toni and Trish House.
