Robert James De Frain Bay City, Michigan Mr. De Frain passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Brain's House. Age 91 years. The son of the late Lee and Edna (Smith) De Frain was born October 1, 1920 in Bay City. He was a member of New Life Missionary Church. Mr. De Frain retired from Dow Chemical Company after thirty years of service. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #18. He is survived by his wife of sixty five years former Thelma "Betty" Weed whom he married August 17, 1946. Also surviving are two sons and two daughters-in-law; Donald and Sandy De Frain of Jackson and Daniel and Cindy De Frain of Bay City, his grandchildren; Brandon (Chelsey) De Frain, Jason ( his fiancée; Kate Baldwin) De Frain, Zachary (Heather) De Frain and Melissa (Norm) Christner, seven great grandchildren, his brother and sisters; Gerald (Maxine) De Frain, Betty Lang, Ida Mae (DeVere) Woods and Joanne Elliott, his special niece; Kathy Britton and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son; Ronald De Frain, his brothers, sister, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Howard (Monica) De Frain, William (Elaine) De Frain, Arthur De Frain ,Edna (Vern) Sperry, and Jacob Lang. The De Frain family would like to extend a special Thank you to the staff of Brian'sHouse for the kind and compassionate care our loved one received during his time of need.. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at new Life Missionary Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Boyer followed by Military Honor's conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Private interment will take place in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. De Frain will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial cards for New Life Missionary Church, McLaren Visiting Nurse Services and Hospice and Brian's House will be available at the funeral home. www.gephartfuneralhome.com
