Roger A. Bales

Mr. Roger A. Bales, of Bay City, passed away early Thursday morning, February 16, 2017 at Close To Home Assisted Living, age 82. The son of the late James and Josephine (Estes) Bales, he was born on November 5, 1934 in Medeira, Ohio. Roger retired as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam. He then worked in the commissary at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda for 20 years. Roger loved his dogs and enjoyed golfing.
On September 21, 1991, Roger married the former Candace Novak and she survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Sharon Manchett of England and Vicki Porter of Louisiana; four grandchildren; his brother, Warren (Elizabeth) Bales of Florida; his mother-in-law, Ruth Novak of Bay City; a sister-in-law, Ellen Pearson of Bay City; a brother-in-law, Bob (Dana) Novak of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roger was also preceded in death by a sister; three brothers; and his father-in-law, Walter Novak.
