Ronald H. Ziegler

Ronald passed away on the morning of Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Bay Shores Nursing Home at the age of 90 years. Ron was born on May 18, 1927 in Bay City to the late John and Louisa (Weiss) Ziegler. He married Shirley Hoerauf on February 14, 1953 in Bay City and they spent 64 years together. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. He retired in 1992 from Consumers Power after 21 years of service. Ron loved his family and enjoyed gardening, farming and hunting in his spare time.

Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Kathy (Richard) Pautsch of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Rodney Ziegler of Bay City, Michigan, Diane (Robert) Jones of Sanford, North Carolina, Rachel (Matthew) Bowerman of Clio, Michigan, and Timothy (Michelle) Ziegler of Rhodes, Michigan; grandchildren, Andrea Pautsch, and Libby, Alyssa and Nathaniel Jones; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Oscar, Otto, Harold, Waldemar (Ada), and Johnny; sisters, Amanda (Floyd) Disher and Hildegarde (Marvin) Horst.

Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis W. Matyas. Committal will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Ron will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
