Shirley Ann Grandmaison

Shirley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living at the age of 90. She was born on November 5, 1932 in Kawkawlin, Michigan to the late Edward and Inez (Hunt) Grandmaison. Her mother, Inez, passed away shortly after Shirleys birth. Edward then married Frances Carson, who raised Shirley and her sister, Florence as her own. Shirley was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was a teacher for over 40 years in the Bay City School System. She very generous with her time and tutored many children as well. She enjoyed knitting, reading, wood carving and genealogy research. She was a benefactor to many people and was always so willing to help others out. Her personality was radiant and she always knew how to make others smile.

Shirley is survived by her niece, Jennifer Ardus; and several other beloved cousins and family members. In addition to her parents and birth mother, she was predeceased by her sister, Florence (Vernon) Fitzpatrick; close cousin, Gwen Daeschlein; close friends, Marilyn Beach.

At the request of Shirley, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Daniel Stonebach. Private inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Messiah Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
