Shirley passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 82 years. Shirley was born in Melvern, Ohio on January 20, 1935 to the late William Sr. and Madeline Staley. On May 9, 1953 Shirley married Richard D. Jean at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. She worked for many years at Bay View Bar and then retired from Made Rite Potato Chips. Shirley is survived by five children, David (Janet) Jean, Debra (Luke) Schatzer, Carrie (Kim) Richardson, Mitchell Jean and Dawn Thompson; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two on the way; brother, Richard (Jane) Staley; sisters-in-law, Bette Staley, Margaret Jean, Virginia Madigan and Carla Jean; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her brother, William Staley Jr.; brothers-in-law, Kenneth, Arthur, Duane Jean and Glenn Madigan; sister-in-law, Karen Davidson and son-in-law, Jack R. Thompson. Shirley's memorial service will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church with Deacon Ken Kochany officiating. Rite of committal will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Kawkawlin. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Shirley will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
