Shirleyann Smith Essexville, Michigan Mrs. Smith passed away peacefully early Thursday morning May 15, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 75 years. She was born February 21, 1939 in Bay City, Michigan and has resided in this area all of her life. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1957. She enjoyed knitting, doing cross-stitch, spending the past 24 winters in Tucson, Arizona, and most of all spending time with her family. On October 12, 1957 she was married by Rev. John F. Brenner in St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church to her husband of 56 years, Neil D. Smith, and he survives her passing along with one daughter and son-in-law; Patti and Paul Doerr of Montrose, one son and daughter-in-law; Terry and Carrie Smith of Bay City, four grandchildren; Patrick Doerr, Amelia Doerr, Alyson (AJ) Smith and Anna Smith and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; Gilbert Hall, her mother and step father; Leafy (Douponce) and John Frank, one brother and sister-in-law; Gilbert and Kay (Krantz) Hall, two sisters-in-law and their husbands; Joann and Ralph Gingrich, Arlene Huskins, Pete Huskins and Earl Huskins. Funeral Services will take place Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 706 W. Jane St., Bay City, MI, 48706. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schweppe with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Smith will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church will be available.
