William M. Kolb

Mr. Kolb passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. Age 85 years. The son of the late Frederick J. and Josephine (Leiman) Kolb was born August 17, 1928 in Bay City. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church and retired from Kerkau Manufacturing Company as an operator. Bill had a great love for hunting, fishing, gardening and a passion for tinkering with automobiles. On April 24, 1948 he married his wife of 66 years the former Lillian M. Starrett and she survives his passing along with three sons and three daughters-in-law; William J. and Barbara Kolb, of Bentley, Terry F. and Georgene Kolb of Kawkawlin and Timothy A. and Debra Kolb of Bay City. Also left behind to cherish his memories are seven grandchildren; Amy, Jami, Carrie, Chad, Jeff, Russ and Sarah, fifteen great grandchildren, one sister; Bernice Whittaker of AZ and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister-in-law; Robert and Pearl Kolb, two sisters and three brothers-in-law; Rosetta and Charles Able, Gladys and Harold Staudacher and Melvin Whittaker. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church 2460 S. Fraser Road Kawkawlin, MI 48631. Officiating will be Rev. Andrew Lindke with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Kolb will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. Bartholomew Ev.
