Al passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Bayfield Assisted Living at the age of 82. He was born in Saginaw on October 3, 1938 to the late Earl and Margaret (Simmons) Bryant. Al started his career as a history teacher at MacGregor Jr. High. He then went on to be Assistant Principal at Bay City Central High School and spent the final 25 years of his career as Principal of Bay City Western High School. Al was the first Principal at Bay City Western and had a special devotion to the school, staff and the students. He was very dedicated to the Western community and was involved in all aspects. Al was a member of Sig Ep's fraternity at Central Michigan University and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known to be a very social man who loved meeting new people and making everyone laugh with his amazing sense of humor. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, duck hunting, fishing, planting trees and spending time at the family cottage on Intermediate Lake.
Al is survived by his sons, Jeff (Lynne), Todd (Michiko) and Andy (Myra) Bryant; grandchildren, Bailey, Carley, Nolan, Drew and Ames Bryant; many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his loving wife Katy in 2007; brother, Eric Bryant and sister, Pat Wahlton.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Private inurnment will take place in Southern Cemetery in Central Lake, Michigan. Contributions may be made to the Bay Area Community Foundation to the Al Bryant Leadership Scholarship.
