Alfred L. Neff, “The Champ” a man of many talents and a heart full of love, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on April 9, 2024. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on June 2, 1947, Alfred led a life that touched the hearts of so many around him. Alfred was truly a jack of all trades, immersing himself in the world of cars and mastering the art of fixing them. He poured his passion into every project he worked on, leaving a mark of expertise and dedication in everything he did.
Those who knew Alfred will remember him as a kind and helpful soul, always ready with a joke to bring smiles to the faces of those around him. His humor and warm personality made him incredibly endearing, earning him a special place in the hearts of many. In his free time, Alfred enjoyed playing pool, cards, working out, and listening to music. However, it was his deep love for his birds that truly showcased his gentle spirit and caring nature.
Alfred's legacy lives on through his loving family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife Ruth Neff; cherished daughters Brenda Surgeson, Katrina (Mark) Kowalczyk, and Annette Neff; grandchildren Derek Surgeson, Ryan Surgeson, Jared McCreery, Lindsey Bernelis, Luke Kowalczyk, Lance Kowalczyk, Rebecca Kowalczyk, and Danny Kowalczyk; great-grandchildren Riley, Layne, Lillian and a Baby Boy on the way; sisters, Rhonda (Dick) Randville and Carrie Neff; step mother, Emma Neff along with caregiver, Elaine McPhail as well as close friends Alvino and Joyce Soto; many nieces and nephews and his four Tweety Birds.
In this time of grief, Alfred is reunited in spirit with his parents, John Neff and Lorraine Lyon; Granny, Bessy Neff; brothers, John "Dan" Neff and Ed Neff.
A Funeral Service to honor Alfred's life will be held at Gephart Funeral Home in Bay City on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 7:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. The gathering will serve as a beautiful tribute to a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to wishes of the family.
