Mr. Nietzke passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester, Michigan.  Age 86 years.  He was born April 11, 1928 in Sebewaing, Michigan and had resided in Bay City until moving to Rochester to be with his family.  Al was a member of Divine Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and was a former member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church and St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.  He retired from Bay City Chevrolet, was an avid stock car race fan, served with the United States Army, received a bronze star in the Korean Conflict and also played baseball for the Army.
On July 25, 1952 he married the former Rosella B. Anderson and she survives his passing along with one son and daughter-in-law; Alfred "Al" and Andrea Nietzke Jr. of Oakland Township, five grandchildren; Ariahnna, Ashton and Austin Nietzke, Phillip and D'Arcy Calopisis, one great grandchild; Theodore, one sister-in-law; Joyce Nietzke and many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Nietzke was preceded in death by his parents; Frederick and Martha (Schuler) Nietzke, one daughter; Melody Colley, one son; Allyn Nietzke and one brother; Albert Nietzke.
At the request of Mr. Nietzke, a Private Funeral and Committal Service will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.  Officiating will be Pastor Mark Voss followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council.  Private interment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers  those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial  contribution to Divine Grace Ev.
