Alice Irene Roth

Mrs. Roth passed away Tuesday morning September 8, 2015 at the Carriage House of Bay City where she had lived since October of 2013. Prior to that she had lived for ten years at the Colonnades Assisted Living, being one of their charter residents. Age 97 years. Alice was born July 16, 1918 in Onaway, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Ellen (Porter) Peterson and George "Bernie" Peterson. She was a graduate of Onaway High School and attended Delta College where she obtained her accreditation in Medical Record Technology. She worked in Medical Records at Bay City General Hospital, transferring later to Bay Osteopathic where she then had a career as the Administrator of Medical Records. In 1941 she married Clifford Roth and he preceded her in death in 1986 at the age of 65 years. Alice and Clifford had a son, Terry Lee Roth and a daughter, Janet Alice Roth Dennett. Terry and his wife Mary Martin live in Vashon, Washington. Janet lives in Midland with her husband Robert Dennett and they survive her passing. Alice is also survived by; three grandsons; Andrew Roth, (Kevin Little) of Sacramento, CA, Christopher Randall of Tacoma, WA and David Randall (Linda) of Redmond, WA, her great grandchildren; Josh Randall, Tom Randall, Andrew Randall, Matthew Randall and Adam Randall, three step grandchildren; Thomas Dennett of Midland, MI, Michael Dennett of Midland, MI and Maria Dennett (Kevin Adames) of Stony Pointe, NY. She is also survived by step great grandchildren; Marlee Dennett of Myrtle, Beach, SC and Andrea Grandy of Bay City her great - great step granddaughter; Alexis Grandy of Bay City, one sister; Patricia Price of Onaway, Michigan and many nieces and nephews who visited often. Including in those who will miss her is Lynn Tober who was a housekeeper for Alice and became a faithful friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ellen and George "Bernie" Peterson, brothers; Stanley and Arthur and sisters; Bessie, Ina, Edith and Grayce. Alice was a Renaissance Christian woman who started the day reading the Wall Street Journal, enjoyed newspapers that her children bought for her when they traveled and had her Bible 'at the ready'. She was a charter member of Wenonah Chapter of American Business Women's Association where she was named Woman of the Year in 1975. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a faithful friend and always took care to think the best of those she met. Gossip was something she shunned. As her daughter Jan has always said, "She's a tough act to follow!" Funeral Services will take place on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., 201 W. Midland St. Bay City, Michigan 48706. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin C. Jones with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday to received visitors from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Immanuel Lutheran Church for the General Fund.
