Allan C. Wegener passed away Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at Symphony of Tri-Cities at the age of 94 years. Al was born April 3rd, 1928 to the late Erwin and Lydia (Steinbauer) Wegener in Bay City, Michigan. Al began his lifelong career as a truck driver at the early age of 16. He is an Army veteran of the Korean War as a tank mechanic where he made a lifetime of friendships, memories and stories. After leaving the Army he married Arlene Marciniak on January 28th, 1956 and had two children. Al was a loyal Red Wings, Detroit Lions & Tigers fan, often seen wearing a ball cap bearing the respective logos. Al enjoyed talking to people and making new friends. In retirement he remained active mowing lawns as side job then eventually starting his own lawn mowing service.
Al is survived by his son, Steve (Tris Groeneveld); sister, Valerie Korman; and brother, Lyn (Jan) Wegener; grandchildren, Kyle and Gregg and his brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Diane Hunt. In addition to his parents Allan is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Marciniak); daughter, Sharon; brother, Earl; sister, Virley; brother in laws, Armond Herbolsheimer, Art Eichinger, Louis Korman, Ron Marciniak and sister in laws, Geraldine Wegener, Judy Marciniak.
Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Floral Gardens Cemetery chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain Doug Bassett. Friends and family may visit at Floral Gardens Cemetery chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to Lutheran Hour Ministries.
