Mr. Thorington passed away Saturday September 19, 2015 at McLaren - Bay Special Care with his loving family at his side. Age 72 years. The son of the late Max and Mary (Bushong) Thorington was born October 7, 1942 in Gladwin, Michigan. He went to Pinconning High School, enjoyed hunting, football, gardening, playing poker, listening to country music and most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family. Ted started his career as a mason, working construction and then went on to work in the automotive industry and retired from General Motors Powertrain in Bay City. Ted was a member of the U.A.W. Local 369 and attended the Moose Lodge in Estey, MI.
On July 29, 1961 he married his wife of fifty four years the former Joyce M. Mularz and she survives his passing along with three daughters and their spouses; Tina and Brian Talkington of Beaverton, Barbara and Mark Doty of Crump and Terri and Jimmy Johnston of Crump, thirteen grandchildren; Toni, Krista(Kevin), Matthew, Mitch, Dustin (Sarah), Paul (Kristen), Sheila, Kayla, Abby, Logan, Emily, Riley and Jesse, six great grandchildren; Taryn, Ethan, Lindsey, Alexis, Ariana and Axel, one sister, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Sharon and Denny Russell of Midland, Jan Thorington, Ronald and Carol Mularz of Auburn, Ellen Vance of Linwood and Kitty Mularz and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son; Troy Thorington, two sons-in-laws; Keven Strobel and Jody Bargeron, three grandchildren; Troy, Kane and Kyle Bargeron two brothers; Max Thorington Jr and John Thornington, one sister; Kay Thornington, his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Paul and Elizabeth Mularz and his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; Lyle Vance, Floyd Mularz and Joey Mularz and Beverly Morse.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Hoggard Jr. with interment following in Garfield Twp. Cemetery . The family will be present at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to receive visitors. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to "The Wishes of the Family".
