Alvin J. Appold

Mr. Appold passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his residence. Age 82 years. The son of the late Jacob and Alvina (Schwab) Appold was born November 8, 1933 in Bay City, MI. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and sang in the church choir. Mr. Appold retired from Frankenlust Township where he served as the clerk for many years. He enjoyed visiting his grandchildren, being outdoors, going for walks, gardening and having coffee with his coffee club at McDonalds. Left behind to cherish his memory is one son and daughter-in-law; Joel and Patti Appold of Holmen, WI; one daughter and son-in-law; Greta and William Dijak of Bay City; his grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Appold; two sisters, Lorna Ittner and Dorine Auernhammer; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Robert and Marceline Weiss; Selma Reinbold; Helen and Kenneth Klammer; Lorna Behmlander and Jane Bourdeau; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Verna Appold; his sister, Anita Weiss; his brothers-in-law, William Ittner; Reinhold Auernhammer; Harold Reinbold; Alvin Behmlander and Herbert Hammerbacher. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Kurt Adams with private interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Appold will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
