Alvin P. Forster

Forster, Alvin P. "Al" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Forster passed away early Friday morning December 27, 2013 following a brief illness at Bay Medical Care Facility. Age 90 years. The son of the late Peter and Mary (Meyer) Forster was born December 31, 1922 in Bay County, Michigan and has resided here all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and was an active member of L.F.A. Al retired in 1989 from the Grey Iron Foundry after thirty six years of service, retired as a farmer and enjoyed working in his garden. On May 14, 1944 he married his wife of 69 years the former Ruth M. Reutter in Zion Lutheran Church and she survives his passing along with one son and one daughter-in-law; Wayne A. and Barbara Forster of Bay City, two grandchildren; Stacey Forster of Bay City and Chad and Terri Forster of Midland, five great grandchildren; Brandi, McKenzie, Arik, Riley and Bailey, one very special niece; Edith ( Ron) Wilkens of Owosso, one brother-in-law; Les Ender of Port Hope and many other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter; Ruth Ann Forster, two sisters and one brother-in-law; Esther and Edward Schindler, Arlene Ender and one brother and sister-in-law; Herbert and Josephine Forster. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bay Medical Care Facility for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mr. Forster during the time they cared for him. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church 706 W. Jane St. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schweppe with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Forster will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church will be available at the funeral home.
