Mr. Vogtmann passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 71 years. The son of the late Arnold and Ruth (Klaus) Vogtmann was born October 14, 1948 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Vogtmann was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was retired from Dow Corning after 29 years of service. Alvin was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Men's Club, United Steel Workers Union 12934, SOAR, Dow Corning Retirees Club, LFA Hall and enjoyed working outside in his flower garden, listening to the Detroit Tigers and Lions and playing Euchre.
Mr. Vogtmann is survived by his wife, Diane Vogtmann; one daughter, Amy (Andy) Schupska; four step children, Tami Bond, Bill Collins, Margaret Vink and Catherine LeClair; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Tammie) Vogtmann; one sister, Shirley (Ron) Wenglikowski and one brother-in-law, Dave Maxwell and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Maxwell.
A private funeral service will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church with private interment following in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial service will take place at a later date and will be announced later by the Gephart Funeral Home.
