Mrs. Leavens began her heavenly journey on Sunday March 23, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 100 years with her loving family at her side to join her family in eternal life. The daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Pospisil) Duley was born April 13, 1913 in Pinconning, Michigan and resided in Bay City most of her life. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Good Fellows, served as the former treasurer for the A.B.W.A. and was the Manager of the former Sarrett's ready to wear dress shop in Bay City. Her greatest pleasures came from devotion to her family, friends and anyone in need. The Loss of this gracious lovely lady will be felt deeply by everyone who knew her. Though she will no longer share our lives physically, her loving spirit will continue to guide and comfort us.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law; Gloria and Royce Kriewall, Arlene and Peter Frick and Joanne Genaw, one son and one daughter-in-law; Peter James and Susan Leavens, nine grandchildren; Earl and Karla Kriewall, Tami Reid, Tracey and Steve Bunde, Paul and Nichole Kriewall, Mark and Cindy Frick, Brad and Heidi Stout, Lori Maas, Shannon and Mark Schmidt and Joel and Michelle Leavens, twenty great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two sisters and one brother-in-law; Therese and Richard Bailey and Agnes LaLonde and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Earl E. Leavens on December 28, 1985.
The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 2956 E North Union Rd, Bay City, MI 48706 . Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. James R. Carlson with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.201 W. Midland St. Bay City, MI 48706 Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Leavens will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society will be available.
