Arlene A. Janz

Arlene Janz, our dearest mother went home to be with the lord on November 25, 2024, at home with her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Amos and Clara (Metevia) Leonard, she was born March 9th, 1927, in Standish Michigan. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Arlene worked as a nurse for many years and then as a seamstress, which was her passion. She loved to garden and spent many hours caring for her numerous flower beds and stunning tulips that grew every spring. She married the love of her life Arthur Janz on June 9th, 1946.

Arlene was the matriarch, the rock, and glue that held the family together. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and was always there to guide us and lend a helping hand. Arlene worked incredibly hard and selflessly gave all she could to her family and those in need. Arlene could always be counted on to sew a button or wipe a tear. She will be immensely missed by all who had the pleasure of getting to know her. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Mom’s devoted hospice nurse Kelly Green. Her kindness, compassion and dedication carried us through this impossible time.

Fly high my sweet Mama, you have earned your wings. May God bless you and keep you.

Left to cherish her Memories are Her son and daughter-in-law (Dale Arthur and Marie Janz) Her daughter and son-in-law (Dawn Marie and Edwin S Kulka Jr) Her Daughter-in-law (Joann Priest) Also, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sister-in-law Dorothy Leonard and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Janz, her daughter Barbra Kay Janz, and two great grandchildren Michael and Arianna. One sister Maxine Miller, and Two brothers Joseph Leonard and Ronald Leonard.

The Family will be present at Gephart Funeral Home (201 W Midland St, Bay City) on Friday November 29th to receive family and friends from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will take place at Messiah Lutheran Church in Bay City (501 S Catherine St) on Saturday, November 30th at 1pm. Arlene will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 12pm until the time of services. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Jahn, followed by a graveside committal service at Floral Gardens Cemetary. The family will be hosting a lunch at the Uptown Grill (E Main St, Bay City) at 4pm to celebrate the long and wonderful life of Arlene Janz. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may consider a memorial contribution to the Messiah Lutheran Church, where Arlene and Art Janz were steadfast members of the congregation.
