Arney J. Schmidt

Arney passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Toni and Trish House with his family by his side at the age of 82. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on June 3, 1940. Arney proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a devoted member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church for 55 years. he enjoyed playing paddle ball, golfing, watching sports and rooting for U of M sports.

Arney is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julie Traxler; two children, Jeffrey (Jill) Schmidt and Heidi Schmidt-Wickstrom; five grandchildren, Shane Haggerty, Lexi Wickstrom, Connor Schmidt, Jason Schmidt and Michael Schmidt; special friends, Fred (Judi) Neering and Mike (Mary Jo) Neering; many nieces and nephews. Arney is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Schmidt and many other special friends.

Funeral Service will take place at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Schaewe with private interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home and on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or Toni and Trish House.
