Arnice J. Detzler passed away peacefully in his home, of nearly 70 years, in the early morning of Saturday, May 27, 2017. Age 97 years. Born on September 22, 1919, Arnice served his country proudly during World War II, spending forty-two months in Iraq and Iran in the Army Railroad Corp. On July 26, 1945, while on leave, he married the love of his life Marion Lyn Winkler. She preceded him in death in July of 2014. He retired from CSX Railroad and he and Marion spent the summers boating in Michigan and winters golfing in Florida. Arnice and Marion joined the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club in 1960 and he served as Commodore in 1981. They were members of First Congregational Church of Saginaw. Arnice is survived by his one son and daughter-in-law, Lyn and Tari Detzler; one grandson, Aric Jay Detzler; two nieces, Sharon Green and Linda Jewell and their families. At the request of Mr. Detzler cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later time.
